Meet the team
Tyler Pullen, Driver, Owner
Tyler builds hotrods by day and race jeeps by night. A world-renowned lowrider painter, Tyler also builds and beautifully restores traditionally-styled rods. He’s been into it since he was a kid, and he realized that he suffered from the same condition a lot of enthusiasts do: his wallet was unable to keep up with his passion. His solution was to avoid paying other people to build cars for him and to learn how to do it himself, which is exactly what he does at his own personal project shop, TP Customs Chop Shop, in San Bruno, California.
Tyler is truly talented. Once during a race, the steering column in the race jeep came apart, leaving us with zero steering. Within minutes, Tyler had it fixed, using just some parts he took off the hood. It took longer to get in and out of the jeep than it did for him to fix the steering with a true MacGuyver-style fix. Amazing.
Sara Baron, Co-Driver, Technology Manager
Sara has always been into driving fast through the desert. Growing up in Las Vegas, NV, she had the opportunity to do just that. A lot.
She earned her private pilot’s license before graduating high school, has literally flown a helicopter, been skydiving, bungee jumping, rappelling, rips her quad over 800ft tall dunes… And can program GPS’s and radios. A technology guru that loves adrenaline and likes to push limits. What could be more perfect for a co-driver?
Icing on the cake – she has an MBA and is into graphic design. The sports bra and yoga pants you see in the picture were designed and created by her, as well as the rest of the Bandito Racing swag. Get you some!
Justin Baron, Pit Boss, Logistics Manager
Justin is our man with the plan. He is exceptionally good at researching and crafting solutions. He understands what needs to happen and how to get there. As a 6’8″ type A personality, he’s the perfect man to oversee the pit operations.
Honey, Co-Dog
When we walked into the Slash-X Cafe for the awards ceremony after our first race in February of 2022, we instantly fell in love with the bar dog. But she wasn’t the bar’s dog. She had been dumped out in the desert and made her way to the cafe probably by smelling the food. Emaciated and homeless, and she didn’t know it at the time, but she had just won the lottery. She’s now living like a queen and has her own race team.
Oma & Opa Pullen, Support Team
There from Day One, literally. Oma and Opa are the best cheerleaders, chefs, pit crew, cleanup crew, jacks-of-all-trades that we know. They are there for every race, and every moment. They help remind us to stop to enjoy the gorgeous desert sunsets. They give us peeled mandarins when we least expect it. We wouldn’t want to race without them.
